Property managers

This list shows property management companies and apartment communities in the Charlotte area. Property managers handle leasing, rent collection, repairs and move-out inspections for owners who do not want to do it themselves.

In North Carolina, a company that manages rentals for others must hold a real estate broker license, which you can check with the North Carolina Real Estate Commission. Ask for the management agreement in writing, including the monthly fee, the leasing fee, any markup on repairs, how the security deposit is held, and how you can end the contract.

If you rent a managed home, the North Carolina Residential Rental Agreements Act and the Tenant Security Deposit Act set the basic rules for repairs and deposits. On a lease longer than two months, the deposit can be at most two months' rent.

DoorNova Property Management is the editor's own company and is labeled Sponsored. Every manager listed here must treat all applicants equally under the Fair Housing Act.
