When is Diwali 2026?
Diwali is on 8 November 2026. Govardhan Puja follows on 9 November and Bhai Dooj on 10 November. Most Charlotte community programmes are scheduled for the weekend before or after rather than the day itself, because it falls midweek.
Sweets and groceries
Order mithai early. The Indian grocers in University City and Ballantyne take pre-orders for Diwali boxes and typically sell out of the popular trays a week ahead. The grocery and sweets listings below are the ones this guide tracks year round.
Temple pujas
The Hindu Center of Charlotte, the Sri Venkateswara temple and the Jain and Gujarati community centres all run Lakshmi puja programmes. Times are posted a week or two ahead, so check each temple listing for the current schedule rather than last year’s.
