Indian grocery stores in Charlotte

Twenty Indian grocers across Greater Charlotte, grouped by the town they are actually in. Addresses come from each shop, and every one links through to its own page and its own site. We do not publish opening hours, because we cannot check them often enough to be trusted; call the shop or check its listing before a long drive.

Where the shops are

The heaviest concentration is University City, where Patel Brothers, India Grocers, Suvidha, Indian Wholesale and Gandhi International sit within about a mile of each other on and around University City Blvd. South of the city the shops thin out and spread: Pineville, Ballantyne, then over the state line into Fort Mill, Tega Cay and Indian Land. Concord, Matthews, Waxhaw and Mooresville each have their own now, which is new in the last few years and means most of the metro is within twenty minutes of one.

What to expect inside

Most carry the same core: daals, atta, rice, spice brands from home, frozen parathas and snacks, fresh paneer and yoghurt. Where they differ is the fresh produce and the regional stock. The bigger University City shops and Triveni turn over more fresh curry leaves, drumsticks and methi. Smaller shops are better for a quick top-up than a monthly run. Several have a snack counter or a small food section; Subham has a food court, and Triveni Express in Charlotte is a cafe and bakery rather than a full grocery.
