Schools & activities in Charlotte

Classes, tutoring and activities for kids and adults

This is where to find weekend and after-school classes: Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Kuchipudi schools, Carnatic music and tabla teachers, Telugu, Tamil and Hindi language schools such as ManaBadi, Paatasala, Arasi Nagara Tamil Palli and the Charlotte Hindi School, abacus and math centers, chess clubs, cricket academies, swim schools and YMCA branches.

The list stretches from Concord, where Core Cricket Academy, Chess Klub and Mathnasium of Concord are listed, to Ballantyne, Matthews and Fort Mill. Several teachers work from home studios or teach online, so the address may be a service area rather than a storefront.

Driving schools are listed here too, including A Step Ahead and A2Z. In North Carolina, teens under 18 must finish a driver education course before they can get a learner permit.

Before you sign up, ask for a trial class, the term length and fees, the student to teacher ratio, and what a recital or exam costs on top. For language classes for kids and for school enrollment, the help guides explain the options and the paperwork.
